International Workshop on Protection of built environment against earthquakes
Ljubljana, 27.-28. August 2010


High observed losses throughout the world indicate that the risk due to earthquake hazard is still high and it may even increases due to environmental changes, which facilitate degradation of structures, and rapid population growth in the urban areas. Therefore it is important to further develop methods, techniques and tools capable of achieving more accurate design and better preparedness, which are the key elements for successful protection of built environment against earthquakes. Joint efforts can significantly facilitate and improve solutions of the problem. On the other hand different views on solving problems lead to the optimal solution.

In order to contribute to the solution of the described issue Institute of Structural Engineering, Earthquake Engineering and Construction IT at the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, University of Ljubljana, is organizing a one and a half day workshop which will take place on August 27 and 28, 2010, in Ljubljana.


Performance-based earthquake engineering; seismic hazard and ground motions; seismic fragility and risk analysis; design of structures; steel, masonry and reinforced concrete structures; structural optimization; soil-structure interaction; concrete gravity dams;
